Boat Renter’s Insurance FAQs
Insurance is required for all renters. The costs of equipment and healthcare have risen significantly over the past three years. A new boat typically ranges from $5,000 to $25,000, so even minor damage can lead to expensive repairs that may be your responsibility. On top of that, any injury-related claims can further increase those costs.
The person who rents the vessel is covered. Anyone listed during check-in who is pre-qualified, approved, and added to the policy by vQuip is also covered. This does not include anyone under 18 or anyone not specifically named on the policy.
Coverage limits:
- $25,000 maximum for any one person
- $25,000 maximum for property damage
- $50,000 maximum for any one incident
- $50,000 for claims adjustment expenses
Additional details:
- Emergency towing and assistance are not included
- Medical payments not included
- Damage waiver up to $2,000
You may be held responsible for injuries to your guests or damage to someone else’s property. This can include situations like bumping into a dock, colliding with another boat, or injuring someone in another group.
No, this policy does not cover in water activities, and entering the water from our boats is strictly prohibited. However, if you accidentally strike a guest or any person, other than a family member, with the boat while they are in the water, the policy will apply. Always turn off the engine when people are in the water near the boat.
Legal costs can add up quickly. This coverage helps pay for the investigation and legal defense if a claim is made against you or a named operator for injury or property damage caused while operating the boat.
No. Operating the boat while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substances is strictly prohibited. Boating requires full attention, and impairment puts everyone at risk.
